Other Shoes Project
Some of the things that identify Tiffany and I is that we are fun, outgoing, sarcastic, and overall happy people. Our plan is to become homeless people for a day and see how social labels have an affect on people. We hypothesize that no one will acknowledge us, give us weird looks while staring, and try to stay away from us. When becoming homeless for a day we are going to walk around Springfield stores. We are planning to do this over the three day weekend on Sunday 9/5. Tiffany and I will spend a few hours walking around and going into stores to see peoples reactions. As we get reactions from others we are going to write them down secretly without anyone seeing. After our day we are hoping to learn how people are treated based on the social labels others give.

So, we had a change of plans. Tiffany and I decided that it would have been too hard to pretray a homeless person and have people believe that sixteen year olds are really homeless. Instead we decided to become deaf. We though people would give us funny looks and laugh at us, along with not acknowleding us. Tiffany was the deaf girl and i gave her sign language along with her reading my lips. We decided that we would go to Walmart, JcPenney's, and out to eat while Tiffany was deaf for day. From this project we hope to learn how people see people who have disabilities and how they treat them because of their disability.
